Hal Townsend, M.D. joined Ashland Orthopaedic Associates in
1990 as a general orthopedic surgeon with special training in arthroscopic
surgery and sports medicine.
Dr. Townsend graduated from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California,
with Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering and Biological
Sciences in 1980. While completing his premedical education, he received a
grant from the National Science Foundation and served for thirteen months as
field engineer in atmospheric research at Palmer Station, Antarctica.
He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston,
Massachusetts, in 1984. He then completed his residency in orthopedic
surgery in 1989 at Stanford University Medical Center. In 1990 Dr. Townsend
completed a fellowship in sports medicine at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic
in Inglewood, California.
Dr. Townsend holds medical licenses in Oregon and California. He is board
certified in Orthopedic Surgery.
